Following on from their critically successful, 2018 collaboration, Vesper Sky, their latest venture is a complete, ‘in one sitting’, 1-hour work, consisting of songs, poems and narrative script, informed by the ‘Sudden Occurrence’ and ‘Singular Point’, as intimated in the Gospel of John, ‘In the beginning was the Word…’

The Last Brightness of Everything is a lyric and music painting, an impressionistic portrait of humankind’s origins, suggesting that Divine, celestial derivation was and is the dawning of our past, present and future continuity.

As to how Yvonne, Carol, and Stewart created the piece? Well, we go back to a book, first read by Yvonne, entitled Black Hole Blues and Other Songs from Outer Space by the American theoretical astrophysicist and cosmologist, Janna Levin; in which the author traces the ‘soundtrack of the universe’ by way of detailing the exploratory history of the enigma of gravitational waves; first ‘hunched’ at by Albert Einstein back in 1916, without specific evidence to confirm his speculation.

And so the Vesper Sky trio read further, wrote their respective contributions, including original script from Stewart; repurposed some earlier songs and poems, added new material, with additional script from Carol. And now, we hope, The Last Brightness of Everything, will bring some enfolding illumination to these unsettling days…
